While abroad, I did an internship at a supermarket named "Hallo Day". During the first half of my internship, entered into new employee training with actual new hires. In those classes, I learned about Japanese business manners and certain practices along with the company's history. After this initial half, I entered the workforce at one of the the shop locations and circled through the different departments for 2-3 weeks. Throughout my experience during this internship, I met many Japanese people, and gained knowledge from all of them. Whether they were simple part time workers or city officials of Kitakyushu, the opportunity I had to interact with and learn from each of them was indispensable to my Japanese lingual and cultural knowledge. I came to understand the nuances of Japanese work life and the different qualities that are valued in the working societies of the U.S. and Japan.
